Waterlily-013 Medieval Dress with Sleeves in Purple

Description

This dress is made in plum (reddish purple) crushed (panne) velvet and a lavender two tone ribbon embroidered taffeta. The taffeta has beautiful flowers, scrolls and swirls all over using ribbon embroidery. The fabric changes colour with movement from the lavender to a deep cerise colour. Complementing these two fabrics is a pale lavender chiffon.

The dress has a square neckline at the front and a stunning open back, there are princess seams running vertically down over the bust to the ground.

The main part of the dress is made in velvet and the centre front panel made in the taffeta.

The upper sleeves are fitted to the elbow and the lower sleeves are made in chiffon and are very full and trailing. There are ribbon ties on the inside of the sleeves so that they can be gathered up or worn down. The chiffon sleeve hem has been finished with a rolled hem which gives it a delicate fluted finish.

There is adjustable lacing at the front and back of the dress, this can be used to pull the dress a little tighter or to let it out a little.

The lacing has been trimmed with grey braid and satin ribbons.

There is a short train at the back measuring 8cm (3").

This dress can be dry cleaned for best results or the velvet can be spot washed.

This dress has been photographed with a light weight net petticoat underneath which does not come with the dress but can be purchased separately from us if required.

To finish the outfit a chiffon mantle has been made, and it fastens on to the dress with tiny hooks on the shoulder seams. This trails on the ground.
